Cherupushpa Mission League (CML)
Started on: 28th July
The Cherupushpa Mission League (CML) is one of the most vibrant and spiritually rooted missionary organizations in the Syro-Malabar Church, established to nurture a deep missionary spirit among children and teenagers aged 13 to 16 years. At Lourdes Forane Church, Gandhipuram, the CML serves as a platform for young minds to grow in faith, discipline, and commitment to the Church’s mission.
Origin and Inspiration
CML was founded in 1947 at Bharananganam, the blessed land of St. Alphonsa, to promote mission awareness and devotion among the youth. The patron saint of CML is St. Thérèse of Lisieux (St. Little Flower), who is also the patron of missions. Her simplicity, love for Jesus, and dedication to prayer and sacrifice remain the guiding principles of this movement.
Faith Formation and Activities
CML members at Lourdes Church are encouraged to actively deepen their faith through catechism, daily prayers, participation in Holy Mass, and involvement in parish activities.
The organization plays a vital role in supporting the missionary efforts of the Church, both spiritually and materially.
Members are divided into four groups, which foster team spirit, leadership skills, and personal involvement in all CML initiatives.
Each Sunday, during the Catechism Holy Mass, a member introduces the life of a Saint, helping others to learn from the examples of holiness and courage.
Spiritual Offerings and Service
Members make regular spiritual and material offerings, nurturing a habit of selflessness and sacrifice for the mission work of the Church.
The CML actively participates in church celebrations, feast day programs, mission-related events, and charitable activities, promoting a missionary lifestyle from a young age.
Guidance and Support
The association functions under the direction of the Parish Priest and Assistant Parish Priest, with the help of dedicated animators and catechism teachers who guide the youth along their spiritual journey.
The annual feast day of CML is observed on 28th July, marked with prayerful celebration, Holy Mass, and special activities by the members.
